How to find an email address by name is a recurring question these days. 👀

After you, this way! ⬇️

How to Find an Email Address by Name for Free?

Well, after trying out many techniques that are sometimes a bit wonky, I thought I’d put together a little guide to 10 methods that can unearth a person’s email address, quickly and simply. 🤩

Enough blah blah, let’s get down to business! 💪🏼

1) Check your LinkedIn connections

One of the most effective ways without paying a cent is to check your connections on LinkedIn! 💡

If you didn’t know, LinkedIn is THE professional social network in the world, where users often share their contact information in their profile. 👀

Okay, but how do I do it? 🤔

Use the search bar to find the person whose e-mail address you’re looking for. Once on their profile, check if the e-mail address is in the “Contact details” section, which is usually under the profile photo or next to the summary.

If the information is not publicly visible, you can connect with the person.

If, however, you’re already connected with this person, but their e-mail address isn’t visible, there’s always the good old-fashioned method of sending a message directly.

Be brave 👋🏽 and explain why you’d like to have their e-mail address.

💡

Most professionals will accept your request if it is clear and has context.

This is a feature that allows you to retrieve an e-mail address from public databases, social networks or even websites. 🛜

Today, we’re going to explain how to do it with Waalaxy, a prospecting and automation tool for LinkedIn and Mail in the form of a Chrome extension. 👽

Directly on the home page, click on the “Start a campaign” button, then select “Email Finder”.

For example, we want to retrieve the email addresses of people working at Ubisoft in Montpellier.

Once the people have been filtered and selected, we create a prospect list called “Ubisoft” via the Waalaxy pop-up and import it into the tool! 🚀

Waalaxy now shows you all prospects who have an e-mail address, and when you click on a profile, its e-mail address magically appears! 🪄

Use social networks

Often underestimated in the professional world, the use of social networks such as Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook may surprise you! 😇

3) Find your email address with Instagram

Some professional profiles include their e-mail address in their bio. To start finding an email address via Instagram, first start by following the person’s profile. ⏭️

Then check their bio to try to find contact details or a link to a website. 🖥️

Sometimes users share a contact pro email in their stories or ephemeral posts. 👀

Note that this method is very effective for content creators, influencers, and companies who want to facilitate communication with their audience or potential customers. 😇

4) Using Twitter

Twitter users typically tend to add their contact details directly in their description to facilitate professional contacts.

No need to draw you a diagram, just visit the profile of the person concerned and examine 🔎 the biographical section where the professional email to be clearly displayed, as here. 👇🏼

In addition to the biography, don’t hesitate to take a look 👀 at recent tweets and pinned tweets, as users sometimes publish their email addresses, especially when announcing offers, product launches or even webinar invitations.

5) Search via Facebook

Just like the other two social networks, on Facebook you simply go to the person’s profile (or Facebook Pro page) and go to the “About” section. 👇🏼

If the e-mail address isn’t visible, don’t panic! You can always send a private message to the person via Messenger, clearly and kindly explaining your attentions. 🙏🏼

💡

It’s important to have a respectful and professional approach if you want to increase your chances of getting a positive response.

Check with Google’s advanced options

This technique may seem obvious to you, but we often tend to forget that our beloved search engine Google (or other search engines for that matter 😇).

6) Insert target keywords

So start by typing the name of the person you’re looking for and “email address” and you might be surprised. 😯

But that’s if you’re lucky. 😅

Alternatively, you can use Google search operators. Don’t panic, it’s super-easy to use! Just use the following commands: ⬇️

  • Name + city.
  • Name + LinkedIn.
  • Name + e-mail.
  • Name + contact details.
  • Name + contact.

If that still doesn’t work, you need to invoke the magic formula, provided you know where he works. In that case, you can try: 👇🏼

  • site:companywebsite.com + name + email.
  • site:companywebsite.com + name + contact details.
  • site:companywebsite.com + name + contact.
  • site:companywebsite.com + name + LinkedIn.
  • site:companywebsite.com + firstname_name at company.com.

7) Use Google Advanced Search

Go to Google settings and select “Advanced search”.

Here you can add different criteria, such as specific keywords, exact phrases and even exclude certain words.

By targeting 🎯 forums or specialized sites, you’ll increase your chances of finding relevant email addresses. 📈

8) Find by Google Maps

We sometimes forget that Google Maps is a goldmine of information. 🖋️

Now you can find a wide variety of services: restaurants, hotels, plumbers, web agencies in short, the options are endless. 😇

If you type in the name of a company, you’ll almost always find its email address, isn’t it? 👀

9) Search via “About us” and ”Contact”

These pages are designed to end up with contact information, including email addresses, which facilitates exchanges between customer and customer service. 🪽

All you need to do is go to the “About us” page. This page often contains detailed profiles of team members, including their direct e-mail addresses. 📧

There’s also a “Contact” page, where you’ll find several means of communication, including direct contact forms, generic emails, telephone numbers and social media networks.

10) Search your newsletter database

You might not think about it, but if you have a newsletter, you might have a gold mine at your feet (or rather, in your servers 😅).

These famous databases regularly collect the e-mail addresses of subscribers who have agreed to receive e-mails. These may be customers, partners or even prospects.

Too good, so what do we do? 😇

Quite simply, go to your newsletter manager (Mailchimp, Brevo…), explore 🗺️ the list of contacts and use filters to make searching easier.

💡

A brief reminder, you need to comply with personal data protection laws, such as the RGPD in Europe, which regulate the use of personal information.

11) Try the website contact form

As you’ve already seen in the article, the contact form, available on virtually every site, is a discreet way 🤫 to obtain a person’s or company’s e-mail address.

This technique is handy when contact information is not visible. 👀

All you have to do is go to the “Contact” or “Help” page on the website.
Feel free to fill in the form with your first and last name, your own e-mail address and a simple, clear message explaining why you’d like to get in touch with them.

This method ensures that your request will reach your recipient’s inbox. 😃

12) Making deductions

This time, we’re putting our logic to work to make a little game of riddle and insight. 🧠

If you already have some basic information, such as a person’s name or place of work, searches will be much simpler.

Business email addresses often follow similar, predictable patterns, such as :

  • “prenom.nom@entreprise.com”.
  • “initialduprenom.nom@entreprise.com”.
  • “nom.prenom@entreprise.fr”.

Using these formats, you’ll be able to try out different combinations (it’s funny, it’s a bit like an escape game where you have to find the perfect combination to get out) 👀.

Once you’ve got your combinations, use a valid online email verification tool to find out whether it’s right or wrong.

💡

Remember that this method must be used in compliance with confidentiality standards.

And finally, all you have to do is send an e-mail with your own e-mail address, or use disposable e-mail. 🗑️

13) Check the blog author page

You might not think about it, but when it comes to writing or blogging, the author page can be a valuable 💎 source of information.

Indeed, bloggers and authors regularly share their contact details with the aim 🥅 of encouraging communication, promoting their work, facilitating professional collaborations and engaging the personal brand.

To use this method, simply visit the blog of your choice and go to the page dedicated to the author.

Typically, these pages contain a biography, social media links and often, a direct email address or contact form (aka the golden ticket, for those with ref 🍫).

💡

By interacting via the author page, you show a genuine interest in the person’s work, which may encourage them to respond more readily.

14) Subscription to the prospect’s newsletter

The final method is to subscribe to the prospect’s newsletter.

Here, we call you the web ninja 🥷🏽, a discreet and respectful strategy for obtaining a contact and potentially an email account.

In addition to receiving direct communications, it allows you to find out about your prospect’s interests and professional activities. 👀

And then, when you subscribe to a newsletter, you show that you like the content or service offered by the prospect, which can facilitate future interaction. 😇

How about a recap?

Finding someone’s email address has never been easier, thanks to all the techniques and tools available today.

Whether via social networks, advanced Google search options or contact forms, you have a wide range 🪭 of choices at your disposal.

However, remember that this research must remain ethical, legal and must respect people’s privacy, especially regarding the RGPD law. 💡
